The first and most critical step in recovery, medical detox at BHAT Treatment is conducted with round-the-clock physician oversight to ensure client safety and comfort.
Medical detoxification is the process of clearing alcohol or drugs from the body in a supervised, controlled environment. Withdrawal from certain substances — including alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids — can produce serious medical complications, including seizures, severe dehydration, and cardiovascular stress. Clinical intervention makes this process safe and as comfortable as possible.
At BHAT Treatment, our licensed medical team monitors vital signs and symptom severity continuously. We use evidence-based protocols and, when clinically indicated, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) to reduce withdrawal discomfort and lower the risk of relapse during this vulnerable period.
Typical duration: 3–7 days depending on substance, frequency of use, and individual health factors.

A comprehensive medical and psychological evaluation is completed upon arrival to determine the appropriate detox protocol, identify co-occurring conditions, and create a personalized safety plan.
Under 24/7 nursing and physician supervision, clients undergo medically managed withdrawal. Vital signs are monitored continuously; medications are adjusted as needed to ensure safety and minimize discomfort.
Once medically stable, clients transition directly into our residential or outpatient programs. Our clinical team coordinates a warm handoff so that momentum toward recovery is never lost.
24/7 Medical Monitoring
Physicians and nurses on site around the clock throughout the detox process.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
FDA-approved medications administered when clinically appropriate to reduce cravings and withdrawal severity.
Individualized Protocols
Each detox plan is tailored to substance type, duration of use, and individual health history.

Our clinical team develops an individualized treatment plan for each client that is reviewed and updated regularly to reflect their progress and evolving needs. Family involvement is strongly encouraged, and family therapy sessions are available throughout the program.
Available durations: 30 days, 60 days, or 90 days based on clinical recommendation and individual goals.

BHAT Treatment's outpatient programs deliver structured, clinically rigorous care while allowing clients to maintain their home, family, and professional responsibilities.
PHP is the highest level of outpatient care, designed for clients who have completed residential treatment or who require intensive support but do not need 24-hour supervision. Clients attend programming for six or more hours per day, five days a week.
PHP at BHAT Treatment includes individual therapy, group sessions, psychiatric services, case management, and family therapy. The structured format provides residential-level clinical intensity while clients reside at home or in a sober-living environment.
Typical duration: 2–4 weeks.
IOP provides a flexible but substantial level of care — typically three to five days per week for three or more hours per session. It is appropriate for clients stepping down from PHP or residential care, or for those whose clinical situation allows treatment without full-time programming.
Sessions include evidence-based group therapy, individual counseling, relapse prevention skills, and family involvement. Clients develop a robust recovery network and practice coping skills in real-world settings between sessions.
Typical duration: 8–12 weeks.
Standard outpatient services are the least intensive level of care and are well suited to clients who have achieved a solid foundation in recovery and need ongoing maintenance counseling, medication management, or relapse prevention support. Sessions are typically one to two times per week and can be maintained indefinitely as a continuing care strategy.

Mental health conditions and substance use disorders frequently occur together. Treating one without addressing the other leads to incomplete recovery. BHAT Treatment's integrated dual diagnosis approach treats both simultaneously.
Dual diagnosis — also called co-occurring disorders — refers to the simultaneous presence of a substance use disorder and one or more mental health conditions. Research indicates that more than half of individuals with addiction also experience a diagnosable mental health disorder.
In many cases, mental health symptoms such as depression, anxiety, or trauma precede substance use; in others, prolonged substance use contributes to the development of psychiatric symptoms. Regardless of which came first, both conditions must be treated together for recovery to be lasting.
At BHAT Treatment, every client receives a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation at admission. Our clinical team includes licensed therapists, psychiatrists, and addiction medicine specialists who collaborate to create integrated care plans that address the full picture of each client's health.
Psychiatric Evaluation at Admission
Every client is assessed by a licensed psychiatrist upon entry to identify all underlying mental health conditions and establish a complete diagnosis.
Interdisciplinary Clinical Team
Psychiatrists, licensed therapists, counselors, and medical staff collaborate on every dual diagnosis client's care plan and communicate daily.
Evidence-Based Therapies
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) are proven effective for both addiction and mental health conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, and mood disorders.
Trauma-Informed Care
All clinical staff are trained in trauma-informed practices, ensuring that therapeutic interventions never re-traumatize clients and actively support healing.
Medication Management
When appropriate, psychiatric medications are prescribed and carefully managed to stabilize mood, reduce anxiety, and support the recovery process.
Holistic Wellness Integration
Mindfulness, yoga, breathwork, and nature-based activities complement clinical therapy to address the whole person — body, mind, and spirit.
